I am always on the search for versatile pieces that I can wear to work AND on the weekends. I work full-time, in a pretty formal setting, so this can be a challenge. Fall is one of the easier seasons for wear-to-work, because you can throw on a dress and a cardigan, or a sweater over a pencil skirt and call it a day.
Lately I have been loving throwing a sweater over a pencil skirt for work. It is easy, comfortable, and if I am going out after I do not feel over dressed or too professional.
You do not have to break the bank buying two wardrobes, one for work and one for nights and weekends. Be strategic and buy pieces that are versatile, and that you can wear in both settings.
Here are a few of my must-haves for a fall versatile wardrobe:
You cannot go wrong with a black pencil skirt, it goes with everything. I love tucking in a t-shirt, or silk cami and throwing a blazer over. I love wearing sweaters over pencil skirts as well.
I love a good camel colored blazer. This color is more versatile than your classic black blazer, and works for all seasons. At work I will throw this on over a dress, and I will dress it down by pairing it with a t-shirt and jeans on the weekend for a casual put-together look. JCrew Factory store has great quality blazers for a price that won’t break the bank, I would highly recommend this particular one (runs TTS).
The obsession with this dress is real. I have it in several colors and literally want all the colors. I do not normally go for body-con dresses, but the rouching in this dress is SO flattering. This is perfect for the office with a blazer thrown over (or even a sweater!), and also great for a date night paired with a suede jacket. And the best part, it is under $60!
I love this sweater! The button details are so fun, and the color is gorgeous on all skin tones. For work I paired it with a black pencil skirt, tights and booties. On the weekends I like to pair this sweater with high waisted denim.
I am not a big fan of wearing heels, ESPECIALLY with tights (constantly losing a shoe, ha!), so I love wearing booties to work. They are comfortable, easy to style, and I can wear them with jeans on the weekend as well. I picked up these at the Nordstrom Fall Sale and I am obsessed! These are also great and they are under $80.
I love wearing a cami underneath a blazer for work. It looks chick for work, and then if you are going out after it still gives a sexy-feminine flair. I love this particular one from Abercrombie, it is affordable and MACHINE WASHABLE (because let’s be real dry cleaning sucks).
I hope you all enjoyed my Fall work wardrobe staples!
Have a great day!
